FireFly and Serenity

Joss Whedon is a master story teller.
In fact, he has me re-thinking my artist fan theory because I go out looking for his comics.
I can't believe I never heard of this series and that it was taken off the air.
FireFly is the story of a ship full of rejects led by a wounded soldier.
You see way back when the captain was in the Armed Forces he believed in what his country stood for.
That was until they left him to die on the field; right after he told his men not to worry reinforcements were on the way.
Well suffice to say things didn't quite turn out the way the captain wanted, and hence forth the crew of serenity were born.
And that crew is: Malcom “Mal” Reynolds - The Captain (Nathan Fillion),Zoe - The Soldier (Gina Torres),Wash - The Pilot (Alan Tudyk),Kaylee - The Mechanic (Jewel Staite),Inara - The Ambassador (Morena Baccarin),Jayne - The Mercenary (Adam Baldwin),Simon Tam - The Doctor (Sean Maher),River Tam - The Fugitive (Summer Glau),Book - The Shepard - (Ron Glass) and the ship itself Serenity.
I have just seen the first 2 episodes which comprise the series pilot so I don't have the complete story, but for what I've seen, it's really a different and unique show.
Its set in the future but it's like a western with horses and cowfolk and such.
But everything is very futuristic and it really blends togethesuperblyly.
So as I see more episodes I will be able to more define my interests in this program, but for now I'm hooked.
Joss you are truly an enigma and even though I'm an artist fan I will buy anything you are in.
Keep up the great work anI'llll keep shelling out the dough.
61 days and counting......tick tock tick tock

Three Times the Charm for ROTS

I just finished watching Revenge of the Sith for the third time (I know only 3 times, I'm slacking) and I'm gonna let you in on a little secret...
Watching a movie more than once DOES NOT ruin anything.
In fact the third time I saw it, the movie was actually better.
I'll tell you why....
The first time you watch it you're all excited about finally seeing the dam thing.
After 4 years you like, show the dam thing already.
Well most movies are never as good as their hype.
It's impossible to live up to that kind of expectation.
So most movies crumble. i.e... Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones. (no he didnt yes he did...)
So when you watch the movie twice, you're going into it with low expectations.
Now your actually watching the movie and your less stressed, more focused.
Most people will enjoy the movie now, if only because now they are actually seeing it.
Now seeing a movie 3 times, what do you think will happen?
Well now you've already "seen" the movie so now your looking at it; studying it.
Now you're saying to yourself "hey here's the scene where so and so does this, and this is the scene where this or that happens."
For the first time your actually "watching" the movie and for most films this is when you can determine whether or not the movie "sucks".
Now in the case of Revenge of the Sith, you find that the "Oscars" better give notice and respect to George for dotting all his "I's" and crossing all his "T's".
This movie really and truly is the best picture of the year, and wouldn't it be nice that after the "first" Star Wars was nominated and lost that this one will claim the prize so much deserving.
So get back out there and watch Revenge one more time in the theatre where it deserves to be seen and remember after it's gone you only have your little television screen to see this epic.
DO NOT MISS YOUR CHANCE TO SEE IT THE WAY IT SHOULD BE SEEN!!!!
I've said enough.
Now go and do what needs to be done to fulfill your destiny young Jedi.
And I'll see you there for the 4th time. :)

Play Station too

I just realized that I haven't talked about my PS2 yet.
There are other things to do besides watching movies and seeing my fav shows on the boob tube.
Every now and then when I get a second to spare, I'll pop on a game and escape for an hour or 2.
Some of my fav games are Spider-Man 2, Batman Vengeance, Final Fantasy X, Jedi Starfighter, Dragonball z Budokai and Grand Theft Auto: Miami Vice.
Now I know there are other, better games but I just haven't got the time to try them.
Hey why don't you guys let me know which ones are good and tell me why I should try it.
Man it has been forever since I played a game.
I really have to just find some time and just get lost for a few hours.
You know what... That's exactly what I am gonna do.
Right now.
So thanks for stopping by.
See you guys tomorrow.

Mars Attacks

One show that I never watched only cause it was up against Smallville was Veronica Mars.
I think the name is kinda silly and doesn't really belong on prime-time, but that's nothing.
Since its summer time and all my fav shows are on repeat mode, I've had a great opportunity to catch up on this show.
And am I ever glad I did!!!!!
This show really is everything that I've heard.
Lots of creepy mystery like Scooby-Doo with a dash of Nancy Drew.
Really one of the best Solve-em types out there.
It had me guessing many a time at who was the culprit and who was the innocent by-stander.
So does that mean when summer is over so is my Mars fix...nah.
that's what I have a VCR for.
But it does concern me that Veronica got a blog way before Lost or Smallville.
Where if all 3 of those shows played the same time I could only pick 2, and as much as I've been enjoying the heck outta V.Ma she wouldn't stand a chance against the other 2.
Sorry Mars but Clark and company along with the castaways come before you.
But rest easy that I would be missing you :)
And as far as blogs on the other 2, don't worry they are on the way.
All in due time my friend....All in due time.
Tick tock tick tock...What's in the hatch?

Invasion of the Sci-Fi Snatchers

Wow I can not get over how many shows are coming out with a flair for the oddity.
Today I saw coming attractions for Ghost Whisper with Jennifer Love Hewitt.
Looked good if you ask me, but I love all things different and strange.
So I guess I'm bias.
Anyway believe it or not I just got through watching one of my fav shows on right now that isn't sci-fi related or super hero related (I know. I feel like I'm cheating too :)
Have you ever seen the show Rock Star: INXS.
Its about 15 awesome singers who are vying for the lead spot of the band INXS.
It's sort of like American Idol but with talent.
I have my fav picked out already which is Mig and he does one hell of a performance every week.
Keep it up dude!!!!
But I digress.
They keep showing the trailer for Invasion and it looks great but I am starting to get very nervous.
Too many shows are gonna flood the market and possibly knock out some really great shows.
This happens all the time and I really don't feel comfortable getting used to a show only to have the powers that be decide the ratings are good enough to keep it around.
I really hope that I am wrong and instead of having CSI: "FILL IN A CITY HERE" or Law and Order: Undercover and out of ideas, we will start to see some different and unique shows filling the airwaves.
Well until that time I'll have my fingers crossing over with John Edward...hoping for that one day George Lucas has a certain show about Jedi's and Sith's on the television sets.
May that force be with all of you.

Todd McFarlane's World of Wonders

When I was starting to get back into comics (I fell out during the 80's), there was this comic that looked really amazing.
I missed the first few issues and I was planning on just letting the whole series pass by.
I remember asking my local comic boy guy what he thought.
He told me" If you see something you really like, then collect it. Never collect anything you don't like cause then you'll be stuck with something you don't like."
The problem was that I was at issue #4 and believe it or not issues #1-3 were already claiming prices up and around 20.00.
Well I decided that day that I would do it.
I asked my comic guy to get me #1-3 and I even got a pretty good deal on the 3 comics.
I just finished reading issue #147 of the ground breaking series "Spawn" and I haven't regretted purchasing any of the issues since.
I own every single issue from #1 on and I expect to get issue #150 with all the covers soon.
Spawn is the story of how a military ops soldier makes a deal with the "Devil" to come back and fight for him as long as he can see his beautiful wife Wanda again.
The problem was that the Devil brought him back 5 years later and she married his best friend and have a child together.
Moral of that story, be very specific when makingdeals with devils.
Anyway Al Simmons (that's Spawn's real name) now roams the globe killing all these bad guys which in turn helps theDevil's army grow stronger.
See the catch 22 there.
And to make matters worst, Heaven is totally against him and wants him dead.
Spawn has fought many a villain, mostly from Heaven and Hell, but his greatest villain in my eyes has always been Todd himself.
He started this terrific comic from a dream he had to separate himself from the big 2 Marvel and DC.
He took along a couple of big shots with him and they formed Image Comics.
Image put out some great comics with Shadowhawk from Jim Valentino, Savage Dragon from Erik Larsen, Cyberforce by Marc Silvestri, Youngblood with amazing art by Rob Liefeld and the man/myth Jim Lee doing WildCATS.
Although all these great talent came under one title, things just didn't work themselves out.
The product of bad planning and monster egos destroyed what could have been competition for there old jobs.
Now Todd struggles to keep Image afloat doing his best to keep Spawn from following all those other great titles.
He though, as I said before, is his worst enemy.
Why?
I'm glad you asked me.
It has to do with priorities.
He made a bucket full of cash and decided to let other wanna-bes take over while he went gallivanting around town buying baseballs and such.
He put out one of the best animated shows and then just forgot all about it.
His movie was ground-breaking with mouth-dropping visuals and eye candy for any fanboy but that went up in flames too.
Where is the continuation of the animated shows?
What ever happened to Spawn 2?
And why in God's great name hasn't Todd drawn his title again.
He can't be that busy!
He's not doing anything.
Get off your lazy ass and draw your title into the #1 spot again.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!!!!!!!
Anyway I really don't see this happening so in the meantime I will continue to pop down 2 bucks to read that totally amazing ground-breaking comic from my days gone by.
And if anyone reads this, please pass it on to Todd just to let him know we are still here and we'll still waiting.

Sideshow Joins Forces with Weta

Here I am once again and guess what today's topic is...
If you said the 4400 your wrong, try again.
No it's not the Dead Zone!
That was last week, but thanks for bringing those great shows up.
Can't forget to see them especially last weeks episode going all alternate reality.
No today we'll talk about the outstanding job being done in the shops of Weta.
Weta is the design company who did all the models for Lord of the Rings.
After performing amazing feats of realism in their work, Peter Jackson and Weta decided to allow the average folk the opportunity to own something good enough for the movies.
So Peter went to Weta's shop and they came up with doing different characters from the trilogy to grace the homes across the globe.
But how were they going to distribute all these pieces of art?
Weta was only a shop that designed models for movies, they were not big enough for such a task.
Along came Sideshow who produces some of the finest statues on the market today.
Their attention to detail is remarkable.
Where Bowen has an amazing knack for producing finely detailed, pleasing pieces for the eye to see, Sideshow has a more realistic look.
I swear sometimes I think Gandalf is looking right at me and I almost expect Arwen to sing to me an elfin song.
They are so lifelike it's spooky.
And that's why Sideshow/Weta pieces go for thousands of dollars on the market today.
And if you don't believe me just pop over to eBay and check yourself.
Just keep in mind, the earlier stuff goes for more then the later stuff.
That's how it works, where the harder Fellowship of the Ring pieces have an asking price of over a thousand and the more recent Return of the King asks much less.
Well you have an idea of where Sideshow/Weta is and how they got there.
So if you want to own a piece of history then check out Sideshow.
You won't be sorry you did.

Obi-Wan Takes a Vacation on the Island

Hey isn't weird seeing actors that are perfectly known as other characters doing other roles.
For instance I just watched American Psycho and in it you have Christian Bale and Williem Defoe as rich crazy guy and detective, but what I saw was (hey isn't that neat saw is was backwards) Batman and Green Goblin duking it out.
Anyway the movie was way way way out there but that's beside the point.
Today I also watched Dark Water with Jennifer Connelly and there I saw Hulks girl.
And finally I watched The Island with none other than Ewan McGregor.
But guess what... I didn't see Obi-Wan.
I think its because I remember Ewan in such movies as Trainspotting and Moulin Rouge.
Either way it's weird how some actors get stuck with certain characters and others can do whatever they feel.
So goes this rather bland "Coma" movie remade into a 21st century world.
Ewan should stick to either singing (he was terrific in Moulin) or slicing battle droids in two.
By the way, my air went out and I'm stuck in Miami with like 90 degree temperatures.
Sucks right now to be me, but that's why there's an entry missing, cause I stayed at a friends house last night.
Ah air conditioner is so sweet.
Tomorrow I'll try to talk about Sideshow. Lots of great things to say there.
So until then keep hoping for a great sci-fi movie and a working air conditioner.

Randy Bowen Sculptor Extraordiaire

I started my Bowen Bust collection by whim.
I was in my fav comic shop (A and M comics Bird Road and 67th Avenue Miami Florida, George you owe me one for this shout out!) when I happened upon a rather weird looking statue.
It was smaller than most statues and it was only the head and upper-body.
I said to George "hey this looks like a bust!"
I know "D'oh"
Anyway I had him take it out of the box and I looked it over.
Just like the picture on the box, this really was a weird looking thing.
I LOVED IT!!!!
Can you figure out who this character was. I'll let you know at the end of this blog.
So I payed my 25.00 (alot for the time, I couldn't believe I payed so much) and that's how I now own all but 3 of the original line of Bowen busts.
The rest I picked up on eBay for substantially more.
The 3 I have missing are the Hulk (the first Bowen bust made), Deadpool (I have the change-o-head which I think is better cause you get 2 for the price of 1) and the chrome edition of Silver Surfer.
Now remember that these are the original line-up all the new ones I haven't bothered to purchase yet. Yet being the main word here.
I truly like Bowen cause his work is very detailed and looks great.
His pieces are a joy and pleasure to own and to look at.
I did buy a few of the statues as well and let me tell you, if you have the space, nothing- I mean Nothing- beats a Bowen Statue when it comes to comic related characters.
Sideshow does a magnificent job but so far just on certain characters, but I'll talk about them probably tomorrow.
My Hulk statue is such an Incredible Hulking mass of polystone he just brings a tear to my eye.
And lets not forget Doctor Doom standing atop of his castle.
Very sweet indeed.
All my Spideys are Spectacular and Amazing to bear witness to.
But my bust collection is my true Bread and Butter collection.
It amazes even my non-comic friends who think I spend way too much on all this silliness.
Well to me its money well spent.
Got to fly boys and girls but before I go I would like to share to you the identity of that very first bust I purchased.
It was none other than Man-Thing and let me tell you he is so detailed and freaky that he's the best looking of my whole lot.
Thanks for spending some time with me.

Going Through My Closet

Today I was cleaning out my closet and let me tell you, it's a walk in closet and its actually filled to the top with collectibles like you wouldn't believe.
Well actually I act like I'm the only collector out ther with a closet full of stuff.
I know we are all the same.
Piles and piles of all these truly unique and amazing little memories.
I wouldn't trade it in for the world.
NOW I would sell it for a price. And I believe that was last nights story.
But I digress.
I have comics and cards and dolls and action figures and toys and clothes and pens and oh gosh oh golly just tons of stuff.
Bet you never thought you'd hear the words "oh gosh oh golly". lol
Well today's blog is about going through this stuff and really cherishing it all.
We take too much time out for problems and worries, lets take a few of those moments to relax and smile and think about happier times.
I know I did and I'm alot happier now then I was before.
Well that about does it.
Till next time please remember to stop and read a comic in stead of just tucking it away with its bag and board.

and I did it eBay

Let me just say a few words about eBay.
First off, yes I sell stuff on eBay.
Second off, Yes I do buy stuff as well.
Third, No it's not all it's cracked up to be.
Selling is very time consuming and very difficult and very expensive.
I figured out that I'm actually losing money if you factor in all the fees and what the original cost was.
Also if you buy something with your credit card you have interest your paying on.
At the end of the day, you make a few bucks and you have fun buying and selling.
If you don't have that in you then leave eBay for the dedicated.
BUT by all means please stop by and buy to your heart's content.
You really can find anything in eBay if you look long enough.
In fact I'm about to stop by there right now when I leave this site...
So if you want to join me, then come on over.
See you in the collectibles section under comics and sci-fi stuff.
And I did it my way.....

a Day Late a Stargate Short

Well I guess I fooled everyone one that blog 2 days ago huh?
The clue of "Guess what I'll be writing about tomorrow" threw everyone off, Even Me. lol
You see I had every intention to write about Stargate, but after watching 4400 and Dead Zone, I totally had to change it up a bit.
In fact I can't believe it took me so long to write about those 2 shows.
But Sunday they both really kicked it up a notch or two, so they really deserved the notice.
Now back to the regularly scheduled program.
Stargate sucks!!!!
I'm am sorry for all the Stargate fans out there, but this show is so fracking cheesy that I almost made myself a sandwich.
The problem lies in the wooden characters.
The alien guy is so a knock-off of the Vulcans.
The commander in charge is like this Guy who "likes to yell at people".
And Ben as much as I love him just couldn't save this cliche of a sci-fi mess.
But he sure gave it a hell of a try.
And in fact if I do watch it again it will be for him.
So until they get rid of the alien with that thing on his forehead, I'll stick to the really well written and thought-provoking character driven shows that are as much if not more entertaining than if I was sitting in a movie theatre.
By the way, keep your eyes out for Nightstalker.
I'm telling you now, its gonna rock.
Until Patrick Stewart becomes captain again, I'm just gonna stick to what I know is good.
And that's Battlestar "fracking" Galactica!

the 4400/Dead Zone Combo

The commercial states "characters welcome USA".
What a perfect saying.
And I can't believe how long it took me to bring up this amazing combo on Sunday nights.
OK I'm getting a bit ahead of myself... Let me start from the top.
Sunday's at 9 pm thru 11pm, you will have 2 very good sci-fi shows back to back compliments of USA cable network.
First off is the 4400.
A great show from last season that piqued my interests but really didn't have me crazy.
It's a show about 4400 people who disappear at different time periods and all show up together from the future to save mankind. They do it by way of special powers that each person has acquired from the future guys.
Well after tonight I'm hooked, and it's about time baby.
Wow what a terrific episode tonight was.
How the future guys set up Thomas was so neat.
8 years of his life in a moments glance was awe-inspiring. To have your life totally lived out and set up was genius.
This show was slipping a bit in the last couple of episodes but it seems to have jumped into warp speed and kicked it into high gear.
Lets just hope they can keep it up.
Now we get to the 10 to 11 time slot.
Dead Zone stars Anthony Michael Hall as a guy who can see the past with but a touch.
It's a very nice talent to have especially in these days of second guessing.
This show has been very consistent in quality and performance and definitely deserves your notice.
And you know what, it's nice to see AMH back on the screen again, missed the guy who made science weird.
All in all Sundays are cool with this really delicious combo meal.

High Diddlely Dee a SCI-FI Life 4 Me

Did you hear the latest?
Fathom is now called Surface.
I think it's because it was getting bad reviews.
The normal people in society just don't get it.
Why does something have to be simple to be enjoyable.
Lost has taught us that complicated plots can be fun and entertaining.
Of what I've heard though, lots of the new sci-fi is really good.
That is music to my ears.
All these dam dramas were driving me nuts.
CSI (input your city's name here), West Wing, Law and Order... and the list goes on.
Now I'm not saying that all dramas suck.
I have really enjoyed Boston Legal, but that has a lot to do with Capt. Kirk and little to do with me going over to the drama side.
Now I hear there's talk of a Star Wars TV series in the works.
Yes there is a God in heaven.
Come on George don't let us down.
Well I've filled the air enough, I'm gonna go watch Stargate that I taped last night.
Guess what tomorrow's Blog will be about....

Charlie and the Chocolate Battlestar

Hey guess what happened to me on my way to watching the season premiere of the best sci-fi show around....
I got dragged into seeing Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Now I know what your thinking.
Is he out of his mind.
He has been waiting for this show for months now.
Well I thought it would be nice to go see Johnny Depp do his thing with Tim Burton and tape BSG, that way I could fast forward thru all the commercials.
And the result was just that!
I saw Charlie and afterwards I came home and watched BSG.
Now I could go on for hours on how fantastic both shows were and how Johnny and Tim are terrific together.
Or how spine-tingling nerve wracking watching the second season start.
But you already know how great both are so I'll just leave it at that.
Although when I watch it again I'll be sure to mention some of the cooler scenes, like that new ship I was talking about crash landing and letting the cylons on-board.
Or Boomer acting all dumb and clueless while Col. Tigh knocks the crap outta her.
Can't wait to see how Caprica Boomer is gonna get out from Starbucks shooting range, cause my girl is pissed with a capital P.
Doesn't Helo get it.
She's a fracking cylon dude!!!!!
How weird was it seeing Adama and Tigh young and with hair.
AND just seconds away from burning himself alive, how freaky was that.
Well if you like Tim Burton or Johnny Depp then go see Charlie, or if you prefer just stay home and watch some of the best shows on TV.
Tomorrow if I get around to it, I taped Stargate and I'll tell you how I like Ben in his new gig.
Until then...Keep #6 away from the baby department at Macy's cause that kids gonna need major counseling.

Anticipating the Season Premiere of BSG

Tomorrow we will find out so many wonderful cliffhanger notes such as: what will happen to William Adama, will Apollo and the Pres stay in jail, what's up with #6 and the doc visiting the Opera Hall with the baby crib, will Starbuck ever get off Caprica and will she kill Boomer?
Only time will tell. Not many more hours from now.
I heard thru the grapevine that there will be 27 episodes instead of the 13 from 1st season.
I also heard that one of the main characters will come out, as in he's gay, and that all the characters knew he was gay.
The only one's who didn't know were the viewing public.
That is just an example of how totally awesome this series is.
They plan so far in the future it's mind boggling.
Have I told you lately how much I truly appreciate this show?
please tune in tomorrow to see what all the fuss is about.
Oh and just in case you didn't see the latest cover of TV Guide, guess what show graces the front (I'll be it's only 1 of like 4, but at least it's 1).
Well I'm off to get some rest so that I can be fully awake for the premiere.
See you there and hopefully here.

LOTR chrome cards from Topps are Tops

Man let me tell you, by far, the chrome cards from Lord of the Rings Trilogy rules!!!!
As many of you know, I've been busy collecting trading cards from many of my fav movies lately.
Well today I received my sealed box of those very cards and WOW!!!
that's all I can say at the moment, because they are so beautiful its just hard to put into words.
But I'll try.
First off the graphics on the cards are un-freaking-believable.
The way Topps did these cards are totally way advanced then any other card I've collected.
And the Specials are ever so special.
I got out of my box TWO signed cards AND a memorabilia card showcasing Sam's Elven Tunic.
Very sweet.
And I got one complete set out of the deal... but I'm still pissed that Topps let me down so bad with ROTS.
No excuses Topps, you dropped the ball BIG TIME!
But now I'm willing to give a little slack where slack is due.
So as of right now, Topps is tops in my book.

Topps or Upper Deck YOU VOTE

I have been going nuts lately with trading cards.
Like totally wacko!!!!!
I can't say if its the card, the image, the look or the special cards that have me going crazy, but something is burning inside me and I need to resolve this before I go broke.
You know what, I think its the thrill of the hunt.
Trying to find that ever elusive, special enhanced foil hologram card.
Well I've had enough of it.
And what's worst is some of these companies don't even give you a full set after so many packs searched.
Like Topps ROTS cards.
I just opened my (I really can't say, I lost count after 20 something) up-teenith pack and finally just now I finished my first set.
Card #77 "Buzz Droids" was the card I was ever so searching for.
Thank the gods I finally found the dam thing.
Now I can Stop planning Topps company's demise. ( just joking, don't want anyone freaking out. I really am just as sane as can be :)
Now I have Spider-man Movie cards from the first movie and the second to complete.
Not to mention Batman and Hulk and God knows who else.....
AAAHHHHHGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But when all is said and done, I'm having the time of my life hunting the stores and searching for those packs of gold.
NOW lets get down to what this freaking blog is all about...lol.
Who's better Topps or Upper Deck?
Topps has better special cards but the graphics look better on Upper Deck.
Both companies are really very good at what they do, BUT.... Tops did have me chasing all around town to finish off that ROTS set.
BUT Upper Deck only gave 5 cards per pack in the Spider-man set where Topps gave 7 cards.
So I'll Let you vote.
Who do you like better.
Topps OR Upper Deck...or.... Someone else?

Dragging Ball ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

What happened to Dragon Ball Z.
It was the first show that I remember that started my interest in Anime.
The fight scenes were so intense and the dialog was way too advanced for a child's show.
So why am I sitting down ready to be amazed and wowed like I was not too long ago, only to be sitting here half asleep saying to myself" what do I need to do before I go to sleep?"
It should have been like.." oh man look at the time, I didn't finish what I needed to do before I went to bed."
But isn't it always the case with great shows.
They never live up to all the hype.
Or maybe it's just the fact that these are old shows and what's old is well "OLD"
Who knows?
But I am counting the days till BSG comes back on.
And now that I mention it, I just might tune into Stargate to see the old Farscape crew do their spin on the Gate.
And Goku if your listening, I was only messing wit ya.
But I would use one of the "Balls" to bring back the glory days of Cell and the Androids and Badass Vegita.
Ok I'll give it another shot, how could I turn my back on all the Seians.

Not So Fantastic Four

I'll tell you what messed up this movie and I'll tell you why I think part 2 will rock.
The whole movie was nothing but build-up.
How long must we sit to get that Victor Von Doom likes Susan Storm.
How many hours must we wait through to get the fact that Reed Richards didn't take control of his relationship with Sue.
There were times when I was actually analyzing what should happen and how they should work this scene and that role.
It was terrible, I couldn't enjoy the movie.
The best part of the movie was most definitely Johnny Storm as the Human Torch.
Chris Evans plays the part perfectly and with so much gusto that he "out shines" (no pun intended) the Thing.
And speaking of the Thing, he's the real "Rock" with the costume looking very nice.
You couldn't see any seams or anything.
And Michael did a great job as Ben Grimm.
Ioan and Jessica were cute as the couple to be, but for the love of God, just do something already.
As the main villain, Doom was satisfying but nothing out of this world.
There were lots of little tidbits in there for the fanboys to show off with, but nothing that bragable.
All in all this movie was the build-up while the next will be them fighting and learning how to use and abuse their new powers.
That's why the next movie will rock.
No more build-up or love triangle just simple fighting and saving of certain worlds.
With all the "Fantastic" movies out there like Star Wars or Batman or War of the Worlds this one was just average.

The Storm of the Century!!!

Well not really but of all the storms that have grazed our shores here in Miami, Dennis seems to be the worst.
Already my electricity went out last night (hence the gap in my blog..ahhgg I wanted to have a blog for everyday. Dam you dennis) and I had to sweat all night with thunderous wind gusts and freakish rain storms.
I can't complain cause in Cuba at least 20 died and all I got was some melted ice cream.
But last night I was thinking about the movie "War of the Worlds" and I swear this storm is alot like the movies storm.
If that's the case I'm hunting down Tom cause he seemed to have the right plan.
And don't worry I won't freak like Tim Robbins did. Down boy with those crazy killer eyes.
Anyway I was thinking "What If" last night we were attacked by aliens.
What would we do? Would we know? Would the government alert us?
Well just in case Dennis hits here again let me say that it's been great knowing all you guys and if by some weird chance I don't survive, my whole collection goes to my sister and the kids.
Bye mom I love you.
Tom thanks for the only comment I ever got on this blog system.
To the rest of you late comers, it would have been nice to know you.

Now if I survive all this mess then please disregard all that ranting and I'll see ya tomorrow.
Peace out!!!!!!

Is There Anyone Out There?

Do aliens exist?
My mom swears she saw a UFO land in the woods off a road she was traveling on.
What she saw is anyone's guess, but to her it will always be little green guys. (at least she thinks they were green, maybe grey she doesn't really know...Too dark that night)
All I know is that it's just logical that there are other intelligent life forms out there.
In a Universe so vast, how can we be the only life.
Just look on this very planet for all the facts you need.
We have such a vast amount of intelligent life right under our noses.
Dogs and dolphins are just two that spring to mind and the list can go on for hours.
Now you might argue that dogs and dolphins are just stupid animals that are trained by smart humans, and therefore only seem intelligent.
But even if that was the case, are we not stupid little babies that need to be trained to do the tasks we do?
And if we are so intelligent after being trained then does that mean lifeforms that can be taught to perform have the right to be called intelligent.
All this speculation comes down to one simple fact... We are not IT!
There are other forms of life and some of them are brainless (look towards the heads of state for your clues) while others show signs of brilliance.
I'm only saying this because I have been doing this blog for over a month now with no one responding.
And I feel like that Alien that people ask if he exists.
Well I'm here asking all you blog readers " Is There Anyone Out There?"

Television Turns To Sci-Fi

Wow have you seen how many different series are coming out that have some form of sci-fi tendencies in them.
I believe it all started with Lost which I consider in my humble opinion one of the best shows out today.
I know Battlestar Galactica is coming back on the 15th and yes that show totally deserves many many accolades, but for sheer audience value and getting the networks off their butts and getting some quality sci-fi...Well that honor goes to Lost.
But I digress.
How can I even begin to explain all the shows coming out... It's that mmmmuuuucccchhhhh!!!!!!!!
So instead of just rattling off a bunch of shows and talk a little bit about them, what I'll do is simply tell you the ones I'm looking forward to seeing and you can tell me what your looking to see.
Nightstalker always freaked me out as a kid, so when I saw they were making a remake I totally turned like 5 again and ran under my bed. (not an easy thing considering all the weight I've put on since.)
Also on the horizon is Fathom based on Michael Turner's comic of the same name.
You guys already know how I feel about him so "nuff said.
Invasion looks like V all over again and if they get close to that creepy show well that's gonna rock.
I'm kinda mad at Sci-Fi channel for canceling a terrific show like Farscape only to rehash the main stars in that horrible looking StarGate Atlantis.
I don't know if I'm treating it like I did Battlestar but I just can't bring myself to watch it.
Anyway I could go on all night; so suffice to say keep your eye out for a slew of great shows, good enough to tape shows and what the heck were they thinking shows.

Trouble With Trekkies

What's your fav Star Trek series? or What's your fav Star Trek movie?
There were so many to choose from and now they're all gone!
What happened to Star Trek?
It was one of the coolest shows on T.V. for the longest.
Everyone and their mother watched it and liked to admit they did.
Now it's like "What are you talking about? I never watched that garbage!"
Well I am proud to have seen Star Trek and still am very proud to have had all of the shows and movies in my life!
It has such a great message to it that's it's impossible not to like.
Now am I just being paranoid?
Are there still people out there that like Star Trek?
Maybe with all the Star Wars and War of the Worlds and Batmans and Fantastic Fours out there it's just taking a moments pause.
Well O.K. that's better then thinking such a terrific concept has been totally destroyed by people who never understood what the Great Bird was trying to accomplish.
So lets hope that in the near future, the powers that be wake up and get their act together.
Fix this problem and let's get Patrick out of his wheelchair and into the captain's seat.
By the way my fav series was ST:TNG only because it has such an awesome cast and the special effects were so much better then all the series.
But props to the original for really coming out with such a forward thinking, way ahead of its time concept and performing it with totally believable cheese.
And no I didn't forget about my fav movie which is Wrath of Kahn, followed closely by First Contact.
That's all I have to say about that.
Live Long and Prosper

Toys R NOT Us or Right on Target

My story starts at Toys R Us where a friend wanted to return some items he bought there recently. (by the way you have 3 months to return with receipt)
We went into the store and my mouth dropped to the floor.
I was totally shocked when we walked up to the returns counter to find it empty.
Yeah you heard me right, empty.
How many times will that happen in your life. (they are so slow and stupid but don't get me started)
Well since I was at Toys R Us... Might as well spend a few bucks. (last night at the casino I saved a few dollars just in case)
So I search around looking for the new ROTS cards from Topps, real nice cards.
What I find instead is an unopened box of AOTC card game, you know the blue packs of game cards.
Not what I wanted but what the hell I might be able to sell them online.
I check the price and it rings up .01 on those remote price checker machines.
WOW I think, that's got to be a mistake but lets go find out.
When the girl rings up the item she tells me that she can't sell it because its only a penny.
I laugh it off and say "yeah I thought that was wrong, what's the real price."
she then says " sorry we can't sell it if it rings up like that, we have to send it back."
Now mind you, this is a unopened box of cards that I've seen all over the place online and such so I'm asking myself ... "Is she kidding me".
So I ask for the manager and she calls her on the phone.
Over the phone she tells the cashier "no don't sell it"
When she tells me this I say " let me talk to the manager"
When she comes out she's all fired up and comes at me actually yelling "no we can't sell this, I told my cashier we can't"
Well after I calm her down, I tell her that it must be a mistake cause I've seen these cards and that its ok to sell them.
She then goes on to say that the ink is probably dangerous or some such thing and that she called her main office and they said no.
Well I was furious only because how stupid can a company like Toys R Us be to let the customer go with some ridiculous story of poisonous ink.
Well minutes later me and my friend are at Target once again looking for the ROTS cards when what do you think I come across... The Attack of the Clones Game Cards.
I was tempted to buy a pack and bring it to her and say " look stupid here are your poisonous cards...BOO!!!"
But to make a long story short...(too late)
Toys R NOT Us and next time I know to be right on Target!
By the way HAPPY FORTH OF JULY!!!!!

Take the Money and Run

I just got back from spending some time at the local casino.
It's the Hard Rock Casino in Fort Lauderdale Florida and it's a ton of fun.
My friends and I play the Texas No Hold 'Em Poker instead of just throwing our money away at those automatic slot machines.
Those things are nothing but money vacuums sucking your wallet dry.
At least with the poker tables you stand a chance.
See the slot machines are all tied together into a massive computer system that knows exactly how certain types of people play.
The computer can determine how much your "likely" to bet and when your just about to give up it will let you win a few more dollars.
This should keep you there long enough for the "House" to make its money.
Now with the poker tables its totally different.
See the "House" already gets there take from each hand that's bet.
So the more hands you play, the more money will be put aside for the casino.
That's why everytime I play, I play with the aspect that I'm here to have a good time and if I come away from there with a few more bucks then I'm happy.
Now I know what your thinking.
What does this have to do with sci-fi or superheroes?
Well everytime I make a few extra bucks guess where the money goes.
To George my local comic book shop owner.
I shop at his store cause it's crazy there with everything just thrown around.
The store is called A and M Comics and its been there for many many years.
And that's how everything in this mad and wacky world works.
I work for a few dollars only to gamble it away for a few more and that's only so I have a few extra dollars to spend on comics keeping my local shop alive and kicking for years on end.
As with everything in life, It's all one big circle.
And that's why when your a few bucks ahead of the game you "Take the Money and Run!"

Three Times the Talent in "the Other"

The House of Ideas has come up with yet another one.
They plan to put my boy Peter Parker thru the ringer once more.
BUT they plan to do it in such a nasty way that it's gonna take three writers and artists to complete the job.
In the fall, they are going to come out with " the Other" which is a 12 part event spanning 3 different titles.
They are Amazing Spider-Man with J. Michael Straczynski, Marvel Knights Spider-Man with Reggie Hudlin and some artist they haven't figured out yet (sounds pretty lame...very suspicious) and Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man with Peter David and Mike Wieringo.
The plan is to have each writer do write all 3 titles having Peter write the first arc in October, Reggie gets the second arc in November and JMS gets the last arc in December.
Then each writer will close out the last 3 issues back home on their titles.
The main villain will be Morlun who first came into play in JMS's Amazing #30.
As I get more info I'll fill you in, but this sounds kick-ass and I just know they plan on hurting Spidey beyond recognition.
I hope not because they will have the wrath of us loyals on their tails.
And all the force in the galaxy will not save them from us.
